The effects of cold therapy on managing post operative pain following breast conserving surgery vs a controlled group, showed significantly lower pain levels for the first 24 hours, and had a higher recovery quality than the control group. The results also showed a marked decrease in the need for post-op analgesics in the “Cold therapy group” where only 4 out of 30 cold therapy patients received additional analgesics within the first 24 hours, where as all the patients in the control group received additional analgesics.
