Artificial dermis, “Pelnac” consists of a porcine tendon derived atelocollagen type I sponge layer, which is available with silicone or as a single layer product. Although Pelnac has been used for 18 years in Japan and other far east countries, it has recently been granted CE Mark and is now available throughout Europe. Pelnac is intended for use in acute burns, burn reconstruction, trauma cases and other skin defects (such as after tumor or nevus removal).
